Currently my artwork draws inspiration from a combination of different styles and has evolved into a unique, distinctive interpretation of pop-art, blending graffiti-inspired elements with expressive portraiture, using mixed media on canvas. More recently, I began expanding my creative practice by exploring and experimenting with lino printing on paper. I find Lady Gaga to be a most compelling subject for my portraits, as an iconic, inspirational figure who lives with an invisible disability. As an artist with a lived experience of disability myself, I am captivated by her strength, resilience, openness and authenticity.

In 2007, after experiencing my first episode of psychosis and later being diagnosed with bipolar and schizoaffective disorder, I found my way back to painting once again. I often describe my condition as existing in two realities: one grounded in everyday life and another shaped by intense sensory experiences and intrusive internal voices that feel as though they control me. While ongoing medication has helped me manage my mental health, art has become an equally important source of healing for me. Creating allows me to process my experiences, elevate my mood and find moments of calm and balance. On difficult days, making art becomes a source of both refuge and renewal.

For a long time, I tried to distance myself from my creativity, yet it has always found its way back to me! I believe my artistic ability is a gift from God – a calling that connects me to my sense of purpose when I feel spiritually in tune. For me, each painting feels like a process of giving birth then letting go. If something captivates me, I feel compelled to transform that emotion into a visual form. At the heart of my practice is a desire to capture emotions and human connection. By infusing each portrait with my own personality and perspective, I create works that are vibrant, expressive and deeply personal. My aim is to keep developing my practice and exhibit my work for others to appreciate and enjoy.
