Drawing is her preferred medium, working mostly in oil pastels and wax crayons. She draws her inspiration from ‘after images’ (the visuals seen with closed eyes, after looking at a subject), interiors, detail, light particles, blurred edges, Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism and Pointillism. She has a beautiful way of capturing atmosphere in her work, through the use of colour, shape and light.
A.S. Venetsianova-Rubenstein aims to create pieces that engage the viewer in a deep sense of emotional connection with her work. The creative process provides her with an embodied experience of connection, peace and time-lessness which is evident in her drawings. Next year she would like to return to studying a degree in Fine Arts at University and keep developing her creative practice, to help unlock and express what is inside, personal, and relatable.
