Access Arts utilises an action-based approach to disability awareness training. We have developed a range of programs which enable participants to gain a hands on experience of living with a disability. Our training is delivered by people with disabilities wherever possible because people with a lived experience of disability can go beyond the theoretical and provide “real” insights into their personal experiences (both positive and negative) of access to the arts. Participant feedback suggests that these strategies, and the fact that we use creative activities to increase enjoyment and relevance, provide an authentic and enlightening experience, even for those who have done disability awareness training before.
WHEN: 2pm-4pm, Tuesday March 20th 2012
WHERE: Access Arts, 8 Lochaber Street, Dutton Park, QLD 4102
Cost: FREE!
This seminar will highlight a number of Access Arts Professional Development members and their current ongoing arts projects.
Come along and hear about the exciting multi-arts projects our members are doing, alongside an overview of the Professional Development Program and the services it offers in support of artists experiencing a disability.
The forum will be Auslan interpreted. Venue is wheelchair accessible.

The Northside Beginners Visual Arts workshop at the Regional Community Association, Redcliffe has been producing some beautiful art work – please enjoy!
This year’s Community Showcase was a wonderful event! Centered around the theme ‘Seasons’, each workshop group expressed ‘seasons’ through various mediums: painting, photography, ceramics, movement, sound, music, action and voice. Thank you to everyone who performed, attended and helped at the event, and assisted in its preparation! Here are a few photos from the day:
