MY STORY by Pete Vance
I once believed we could only ever tell our own story! I told one of my stories through a song… ‘The Truth’! My younger brother Andy translated it into A Jazz Chart… almost a foreign language to me! The Truth was then re told with 4 other musicians… which was then retold by 6 visual artists… resulting in several master pieces which were then weaved together by Graphic Artist John Briggs to create the Album Cover! Who could have ever imagined that a single sheet of A4 with some lines & dots on it could end up sounding and looking like this!
Through Art a single story is being retold in many different ways… My brother Andy set the scene with the musicians… Zane Trow set the scene with the artists who listened and drew their stories… while Eric Roberts recorded the process presenting the new story you have just viewed! A multi mirror… reflection of my story… my self! Engaging, Enlightening… Sometimes Scary! But still only a limited view… What will the reaction be when I step outside Access Arts to try and sell 500 copies to a wider audience???
On the day I finished the proof reading of my CD Album package… completely exhausted I dropped into Access Arts and said to Executive Officer Emma Bennison “I feel like I’ve just handed in an assignment!!” Emma at her computer replied “I Feel like I’m doing an exam and they keep changing the Questions on me!” The first line of the first verse of The Truth… Searching for the Questions to Answers that we seek… was starting to ring TRUE again!!!
I still believe that True inner Peace comes when our Rhetoric matches our Reality… and someone is listening… Thank you for listening to my story!
