Volunteering at Access Arts can provide skills development in:
• office admin and reception duties,
• inclusive arts practice,
• event planning,
• management committee and sub-committee roles
Volunteering can also connect you with like-minded creative people and give you a feeling of satisfaction that you are helping out in the community. Volunteering at Access Arts is open to people from all walks of life, and Access Arts members and people experiencing disability are encouraged to be involved.
Access Arts values volunteering and invests in appropriate volunteer training and development. A number of our volunteers have become salaried staff members or have been contracted to run arts workshop programs.
Our Management Committee recognise that Volunteering is a pathway to employment through our organisation and it makes sense for Access Arts to recruit workers appropriately and/or encourage people from our volunteer base to apply when positions become available or are advertised.
We have opportunities for one-off or occasional volunteering for projects, events, mailouts or sub-committees, as well as regular commitment to workshops, programs or administrative or reception tasks.
Access Arts also accepts student placements through universities, TAFEs and secondary schools, as well as work training placements, subject to availability. These placements have been from courses such as: Human Services, Community Services, Education, Arts, Fine Arts, Health Science, and work placements through Mental Health Association Qld and Vision Australia.
The definition of volunteers, from Access Arts’ volunteer policy states:
Access Arts Inc. defines a Volunteer as one who enters into a reciprocal partnership with Access Arts Inc. where he/she provides services in return for skills development and creative opportunities, but does not receive a regular wage.
Please follow this link to read our volunteer policy.
All volunteers and staff of Access Arts must hold a positive notice criminal history check through Disability Services. Access Arts can administer this process.
