Across the globe, people seek meaning and a sense of connectedness in their everyday lives through their local community. From playing weekend sport, to going to the beach with friends, to helping out at a charity event – our social engagements with others enhance our own wellbeing as well as that of the community as a whole.
Access Arts, in collaboration with State Library of Queensland (SLQ), brings youMeaningful Mandala, a hands-on, creative activity that will enable you to explore your community connections and the important role they play in your life.
In its simplest form, a mandala is a design that is usually circular in form. For the purpose of this activity, a Meaningful Mandala is a design that will map your community connections.
Meaningful Mandala, which will open to the public on Saturday 3 March 2018 and run well into the year, is part of SLQ’s exhibition: Lifestyle: a sunshine state of mind. The exhibition will explore how Queenslanders live and play across the state. Showcasing a range of SLQ rare and restricted collection items, the event will also examine the myriad ideas and identities that are quintessentially Queensland.
So come on over to the SLQ Gallery on Level Two! Open daily 10am – 5pm. Bring your family and friends too. It will be fun, insightful and therapeutic. All creative levels welcome.
